villa in Provence/Dordogne

looking for reasonably priced villa for family of 4 (kids age 14 and 10) for a week in the beginning of July/end of June. Any suggestions???? Might consider the Catalonia region in Spain as well.

What price range would you consider reasonable? How many BRs?

This is a VERY broad category you're talking about. Further details from you would be helpful, as would your definition of "villa." It's as if you're saying, "I'm thinking of visiting California...where should I stay?"

Provence is considerably more expensive, than neighbouring regions we found.

We used www.gites.biz to book our houses. You can search on area, size, facilities, availability. You contact the owner direct, most of whom seem to be either English or Dutch and most speak English.

www.gites-de-france.com is the "official" site for gites
but there are stacks of sites offering houses, villas, and whatever.

If it's this coming July you're talking about, you may have slim pickings. People rent places (not villas - they're not called that in the Dordogne) months and months in advance.

Provence is definitely more expensive.

Anyway, without more details, it's hard to help you.

I think it is common for a lot of vacation rental sites to call any large house a villa, if it's not in a city. LIke these

We think our place is extremely competitively priced (but we don't have pool):

Hastobe -- please try to avoid advertising your own place on Fodors. Against terms. Otherwise, this forum would become nothing more than a free ad space. Just a friendly warning that you risk being booted off...try to restrict your helpful responses to general recommendations rather than touting your own place.

I wasn't touting - we're fully booked so couldn't offer anything.
