Villa Gallici
Does anyone know if this is located within 'easy walking' distance to sites, restaurants, etc. or too much in a residential area?
Thanks for your help. |
I would think the hotel itself should be able to answer that question. If I recall, it's rated pretty luxe. They probably have an extensive website, or at least a helpful e-mail person.

hotel site can tend to exaggerate at times so I was just wondering from others who have stayed at the hotel if they found it convenient to walk to sites, etc.

Oh, you're so lucky to be going there! We stayed at VILLA GALLICI about five years ago and I still dream about it.
As I remember, the hotel is a short (and mostly downhill) walk into town. I know we did it a couple times every day, so I'm guessing it was about 10 or 15 minutes. The hotel restaurant back then was very very good. And there's a famous one next door ( I've forgotten the name!) that's even better. You will absolutely love it there. Enjoy! |
Yes, an easy walk. We walked there to the only special dining at the Clos de Violette.

As always, am very grateful for the helpful responses from 'Weadles' and 'cigalechanta' - I feel better about staying there - was very concerned that it was located in a very residential area and not within walking/sightseeing distance. Can't wait!

It's a ten minute walk to the center of town. It's a lovely place.

We stayed in a large beautifully decorated suite overlooking a lemon grove and the pool.
Breakfast was brought to the room each morning, and was very nice- fresh croissants, jam, and fresh squeezed orange juice. Dinner was outside under ( I think?) a trellis of grapevines on a stone terrace. The food was very good, but remember I was there five years ago! It was just a beautiful, wonderful place. And so incredibly fragant! Right oustide the lobby, there was tons of lavendar and again, lemon trees. Just bliss for me. I remember trying to book a reservation there about two years ago, and it was sold out, so we went back to Nice. Anyway, have a wonderful time! Have a great time! |
We stayed there in May 2006 with our infant son. We chose the 10 minute walk downhill into town, and the 10 Euro cab ride uphill back to the hotel.
The location just outside the city center is certainly a plus of the hotel; parking is free and easy. If driving, finding the hotel can be a bit challenging the first time. Print a map of Aix from the web to supplement the directions on the hotel website. The restaurant Weadles is referring to is Le Clos de la Violette. Villa Gallici is a beautiful place. Have a great trip. |
