Villa Fontelunga or Relais la Suvera
 

Has anyone stayed at any of these places? We are considering stayin here for our honeymoon in Sept. 04'. We want something centrally located to nearby townns and wineries.

Cleo, I find Relais Suvera to be a bit remote. For a honeymoon I often suggest Locanda della Amorosa.

Thanks. I'll check out it out. I've read many of your posts as you seem to be very insightful on Italy. Maybe you can provide some feedback on our proposed plan:

-Spend 3-4 nights in Venice
-take the train to Florenece, spend 1-2 nights
-Rent a car, and drive to Cinque Terre, spend 2-3 nights
-Drive to Siena or other destination in Tuscany, spend 2-3 nights
-Drive to Rome, and drop off car

For the rest of the trip 5 nights we are thinking about going to Sardinia as we want to relax on the beach.

What do you think?

It is hard to judge with the range of days--big difference in 2 or 3 or 3 or4. I would combine your Tuscany/Florence days into one location. And, I would end in Rome and not Sardinia. Frankly, I would do 4 locations something like this, with the assumption of 15 nites in Italy:
Into Venice--3 nites
Train to Florence--get car--to Tuscany location--4 nites[day trip to Florence]
Drive to Amalfi coast--drop car--4
Driver to Salerno--train to Rome--4
That will give you half your time in the cites and half in rural/coast venues. Logistics to Sardinia are not easy, and the Amalfi coast is spectacular. And, only 4 hotels.

Of course ! Salerno is just a place to catch the train. Sorrento would be an option to stay, but for a honeymoon I would suggest Positano. Lots of hotel choices, depends on $$$ and your legs--the town is vertical. The trade-off is leg cramps versus drop dead views. I like Casa Albertina, but bad steps. Villa rosa is a cute B&B--also steps. Palazzo Murat is great location and a nice 4 star--closer to beach. The Poseidon is a standard--good 4 star with great service and views. Sorry, I need to run and get some limoncello from the kitchen--I am having a wave of Amalfi fever.

How far is the drive from Porto Ercole to the Amalfi Coast (Positano)or would you recommend not driving?
