Villa/Apartment Rentals

Does anyone know of good agencies for renting villas and apartments in places like Rome and Tuscany?? I will be going to Italy next summer, and would not like to stay in a hotel, as I will be there for a good time. Ideas are much appreciated. Thanks!!

check out the reviews of agencies on slowtrav.com. Many of the people on this site have been to italy many times and stayed in lots of apartments. There are also apartment reviews.

Don't have an agency to recommend, but do recommend highly Tenuta La Cipresseta in the Chianti region. We were there recently. Had a 2 bedroom apartment, no stairs, large livingroom-kitchen, terrace, beautiful views and quite reasonable in price. Rosita is a lovely, helpful host.
Website: www.tenutalacipresseta.com.
Have fun.

We stayed here last Oct - our first trip to Rome and absolutely loved it!

Massimo and family make it a great place, - even though the place itself it pretty spectacular, and perfect location!!

We loved Montorio in Montepulciano --- I can't say enough good things about it. It exemplifies the Tuscan lifestyle, without being too expensive and elegant, or too simple and basic. I am going to work on my trip report this December, and there will be a better description then. In the meantime, you can check out their website: http://www.montorio.com/

We also loved our apartment in Rome. Excellent location --- we couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in Rome other than in the Campo de' Fiori area, beautiful apartment (though very small kitchen), and very inexpensive compared to most of the places in Rome. http://www.romanvacations.com/index.htm

If interested in a home base in Tuscany I would suggest La Nievolina (http://www.nievolina.com).
We were there last year and found it really convenient to tour the whole region.
Kids had fun in the pool, we had a perfect "rest & relax" holiday and the internet access was free.

We had the chance to see Florence, Lucca, Sienna, Pisa and many medieval villages and enjoyed so much our stay.

Food was amazing (hunger was our dictionary!)!

Have fun!
