Viking in Budapest

We are starting our Viking cruise in Budapest. After we transfer to the boat, we would like to go back into Budapest for several hours that afternoon and night. Does anyone know how far the docking area is from the city?

OMG! When I saw that title, I thought you were going to pillage Budapest.

I thought it was going to be a revival to the sadly dead post by billnbettyjones. Darn!

LOL, so did I Surfergirl.

I can't offer any advice but thanks for the chuckle, sandy, and have a wonderful trip.

We were on a GCT ship, it was docked a bit out of the city - maybe a mile or so. I would assume there would be someone on board to help you figure out your options. I'm sure there was public transportation (bus or tram) into the main part of the city. We LOVED Budapest - I would suggest that if at all possible go a day or two early, it is well worth a several day visit.

We took Viking to Budapest a few years ago and we docked right in city center, near the pedestrian shopping street.

Viking docks right in the city center, by the Pest end of Chain Bridge (see photo here: http://visitbudapest.travel/guide/bu.../chain-bridge/ ). It's a great location with many sights, like the Basilica, Vaci utca and the Danube Promenade nearby. Plus many shops and restaurants.
