Viking Cruises Lines?????
I was just wondering if anyone has experienced a Viking River Cruise in Europe. I just came across the website and thought that it looked pretty interesting. Does anyone have any thoughts about it?

Go to www.cruisecritic.com and join their forum. There is a very active "River and Canal Cruising" forum there with tons of useful info.
I book quite a few river cruises for my clients and have been on two myself. I consider Viking a middle of the road, budget friendly line. Some of their ships are older with really small cabins so do lots of research if that matters to you. You can move up to Avalon and AMA Waterways or up even more to Tauck. It all depends on your tastes and budget. |
We've been on two of them. They were fine, but I would probaly upgrade to another line if I do another one. Cabins and food were good enough, nothing special. The tours were somewhat rushed, i.e, we were taken to The Hermitage and Peterhof in the same day while in St. Petersburg, too much in one day.

We have done two Uniworld cruises and are going on another one in Sept. and I highly recommend them. Everything was wonderful and first class.

I will be cruising the Rhine in September on Viking. This will be my 4th Viking Cruise. I have cruised the Danube, the Volga (Russia) and last year took the China cruise. I will say that China was very rushed, but with so much to see it was probably necessary. Our guide Shen Shen was wonderful. The hotels were all 5 star. The ships are small but it is all about the ports and not the actual ship. I have cruised on many lines and Viking for the price still gets my vote.
