Vignettes & Routes, Driving Munich - Garmisch - Bellagio - Innsbruck - Munich
During our trip in May, our itinerary will be Munich to Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Bellagio to Innsbruck to Munich. We will be driving and we were planning on using either Viamichelin.com or Mappy.com driving directions (haven’t compared them yet).
My questions are about vignettes and routes. It doesn’t look like we will need a Switzerland vignette because we won’t actually be on the Switzerland “motorway”. Is that right? We also may try to do a daytrip from Bellagio to Lugano. Again, no vignette needed? I realize we will need an Austria vignette.
Does anyone have recommended routes for our itinerary that may differ from Viamichelin/Mappy?
Thanks!

I believe you are correct about the Swiss thing---I assume you will take the very pretty routh via the Engadine valley and St. Moritz. I always use viamichelin since I also use their maps and like the graphics. Are you sure you want Bellagio with a car? Varenna will be easier. Nice trip !

Hi T,
>It doesn’t look like we will need a Switzerland vignette because we won’t actually be on the Switzerland “motorway”. Is that right?
Go to www.viamichelin.com and www.mappy.com and zoom in on your route.
In researching our upcoming visit to that region, I discovered that many of those lesser roads suddenly become 4-lane, divided highways - especially near the borders.
I expect that there will be police waiting for you there.

Munich - GP - Bellagio - Verona - Bolzano - San Leonardo in Passiria - Solden - Innsbruch - Mittenwald - Munich. I can provide a detailed on line map if you want. You can see what I've done for others here:
http://www.thirdmansystems.com/vacation/maps/maps.htm. BTW it's no cost, I just do it to stay out of trouble.
I've traveled the route down to St Moritz and from Bolzano up.
