Vienna/Xmas schedule?
 

Hi, Can someone give me the general dates of when the Christmas markets are open in Vienna, and when they close down? Also is the Spanish Riding School usually open during the holidays? I am hoping to get back there next year/2019. If I stayed in Vienna over Christmas with a son, as a river cruise ends just before, would most places of interest be closed down? Thanks

It is too early for the exact Christmas market schedules to be published. Generally, you will find the larger markets open around the first weekend of Advent until 24 December (midday); and I believe that the Wiener Christkindlmarkt (the big market) is also open on Christmas Day. Kunsthistoriches Museum (Art History) will be open from 24-26 December, as will many of the larger museums. The bigger challenge will be finding a restaurant at which to enjoy Christmas Eve/Christmas Day dinner. Many restaurants are closed from 24-26 December, and the better one fill reservations early.

thanks for the response. I am trying to decide if this Xmas cruise from Nuremburg to Vienna makes sense, as it ends right close to Xmas day, and I do want to spend some time again in Vienna with my son. It is not until 2019 so I know it is very early.
