Vienna or Venice for New Year's Eve: Which would be better?

I'd like to hear arguments for/against spending New Year's Eve in either Vienna or Venice. Thoughts, suggestions, advice?

www.venice-tourism.com has the best ambience by far for me
www.bauervenezia.com great place to stay for me last deals
on www.otel.com.Vienna will be fine more citified busier
but very euroindustrial outside city center good deals on the Meridien there. If it is about best Party Rome Prague Berlin or Paris.(or Rio/Sao Paulo best in world)

Thanks, qwovadis. We don't need a whopping-big party. We're not big drinkers, and we'll probably be in bed before 2:00 a.m. Just would like to be someplace interesting. Those two cities are the choices we have this time. That is, we'll begin our trip on New Year's Eve weekend. We're going to Venice-Salzburg-Vienna,in that order, or else to Vienna-Salzburg-Venice, in that order. Trying to decide which city to begin in -- either Venice or Vienna -- on New Year's weekend.

To me Vienna's image is the epitome of Christmas - piles of snow and sleighs pulled by horses with cavalry outriders. But - I don;t know how often it actually has snow.
