Vienna - New Years Restaurant?

My in-laws (80+ yrs) will be in Vienna for the holidays and have opera tickets for New Years Eve. Any ideas for a place to go for an elegant New Years eve dinner after the opera? Preferably relatively close, and something to complete a memorable evening. Thanks for any suggestions.

I think the Imperial Hotel is right across the street from the Opera and is always rated highly. Of course, the prices will be correspondingly high, but for a truly memorable evening......

The Imperial hotel is just by the Musikverein - The State Opera is a 5- 10 minute walk.

Most major restaurants in the city center have a fixed menu and price New Years Gala meal.

Reservations essential- and may be a problem finding space after the Opera.

The closest place to the State Opera would be the restaurants at the Sacher Hotel- this immediately behind the Opera building.

Also nearby is the Korso restaurant of the Bristol Hotel.

You could check these for opportunities.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am guessing that they were hoping to find a great restaurant, but probably prefer one not in a hotel, no matter how well know the hotel. Even if a top hotel, hotel restaurants are not the same as eating in a top independent restaurant. They are trying to make plans now, so they will make a reservation, but just don't know where to go. Any ideas for any great restaurants which are not affiliated with hotels?

Many thanks, Molker. I appreciate your suggestions, and am getting hungry looking at menus! I will pass the info & links to my in-laws, and hope they see something that will work for them.
