Vienna Must-Do Recommendations?
I'm going to Vienna for the first time during the first week in December. Any sights/restaurants I should be sure not to miss? Especially looking for traditional Austrian cuisine--am staying in the 1st district. Is it very cold and rainy during that time? Thanks greatly!

Schönbrunn, the Upper Belvedere, the Hundertwasser Museum, and many others. Any decent guide book (start with Fodors) will have recommendations for the major sights.

Erika, I took the liberty of emailing you directly with some info on Vienna. Let me know if you have any questions.

Erika -
I was in both Budapest and Vienna the first week of December last year. It snowed and iced in Vienna 1 of the 3 days I was there. I had a heavy knee length coat which had a fur lining (vintage coat given as a gift) which made walking around very easy. I had bought silk undergarments and socks but didn't use them. It was cold but not Siberian dangerous cold. On one of the days there wasn't a cloud in the sky - golden white light, long shadows, brillant blue sky. Just be sure to bring a cap, gloves and scarf.

Check Fodor's restaurant rec's.

See a show at the Riding school. Even if you don't like horses it will take your breath away.
