Vienna - museum tickets
 

We shall visit Vienna in the middle of April 2011. Somebody recommended me to buy tickets for museums and palaces in advance, but I am not sure that this will be needed for this period of the year.
I am not sure about date/ time when I shall visit these sites, so I prefer to buy the tickets in Vienna, in the moment when I go to the museum / palace. However, if there will be long lines, it will be better to have the tickets in my hand from now.

I want to visit:
- Albertina, Kaiserappartments (Imperial Apartments), Schatzkammer (Imperial Treasury)
- Schloss Belvedere
- Leopold Museum
- Cripta dei Cappuccini
- Schönbrunn Palace
What do you advise, to buy or not to buy online tickets for these places?

My recollection of time in line (September, 2006) was:
Belvedere......2 minutes or so (10 people ahead)
Schatzkammer........30 seconds (0 persons ahead)
Kunsthistoriche.....30 seconds (0 persons ahead)

O, Tomboy, I hope to be the same in April.

I received the similar answers in other forums, so, I'll go to Vienna as I did always, without tickets in advance.

The Treasury has a ruby that I remember as being the size of a large mango. Memmorable.

we went in june/july, and the queues were pretty short except at the Schönbrunn Palace, where the queues were massive.

Fortunately we had the "sissi" tickets that we had purchased at the Hofburg, and we just walzed through, no need for timed tickets, no wait, and they count as the most expensive tickets [there are bronze, silver and gold levels at the S/brunn]. so they are a definite advantage.

we also had passes [the vienna pass?] that our hotel sold us, that gave us discounts on entrance prices, as well as covering us for travel on all the buses, trams, u-bahn. the discounts were the same as we could have got as senior citizens, so if either of you are 60 or older, they are not worth it.

as well as the museums and palaces, please try to make time to visit a couple of the "Heuriger" or wine inns, which are a lot of fun.

Visitors during April should note - Easter school holidays here are April 18- 26.
Easter Sunday is April 24th Easter Monday a genersal Holiday too.
Thus you will find more people and families about .
The time around Easter in Vienna , generally becomes a very busy tourist time.
If poster visits before this period , it should be no problem with lines or advance purchase needed.

Perhaps only the Schonbrunn visit will have any significant waiting time.
A way to avoid this is an early morning arrival or later in the afternoon

WE shall be there a week, till April 20. So there will be some days before school vacation and we leave before Easter.
Thanks for advices, we plan to visit Schonbrunn in afternoon, hoping to avoid the lines.
