Vienna info.

We have couple of questions for helpful fodorites. Is vienna Card (for 3 days ) worth the price? Also we are arriving in vienna and leaving for salzburg immediately. What is the best way to travel from vienna airport to the main station? Thanks a lot.

Your train to Salzburg departs from the Vienna Westbahnhof.

An airport transfer bus departs every 30 minutes - the bus is found immediately outside of the Arrivals Hall.
Cost 7 euro payable to the driver.
Uaually a porter at the bus to assist in storing your luggage in the storage compartment .
Journey will take 30- 40 minutes depending on traffic.
The Westbahnhof will be the second stop.

A pre reserved taxi would cost about 30 euro or so- up to 3 people
obviously convenient and no waiting.

re the 3 day card
two of these exist - one 72 hours of transport only on all Vienna trtansport types-

72 hour Vienna Card - all trnsport as above and also various discounts for admissions , store purchases.

If over 65 or a student - your reduced admissions on that basis most often more than that given with the card.
If planning extensive shopping - the discounts with the card are good.
If you plan much touring of sites and are middle aged - perhaps the Vienna Card is useful.
Thus , it depends on what your planning to do in Vienna.
Generally the transport only csrd seems to be the most preferred to travelers.

Just to amend what molker said:
There are several bus services which leave from outside the arrival's area. The bus stops are well marked with the destination of each service, though.

I try to allow that travelers are intelligent enough and can read the various large signs that direct tourists to the correct place and bus.

One nice thing about charming locals- they can elect to offer advice when and how they wish.
