Vienna in March??
Hi all. As a Christmas gift to my mom, I would like to take her to Vienna. The fare is pretty inexpensive...only catch, I would have to travel in March. The dates I was looking at were March 29 - April 6. Can someone tell me what the weather is like during that time? Is it very cold? My concern is that it would be too cold to stroll around Vienna with my 60-yr old mom :) Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks All!! - Michele

Take a look at weatherbase.com for historical average and high temps are precip. Historical average temp in Vienna in March is 42 F (5 C). It will also be somewhat rainy. It is a lot like NYC and that part of the East Coast in March, i.e cold and rainy.
Remember that there is also a lot to see inside in Vienna, like the museums, churches, the Lipizzaner stallions, concerts, inside of palaces, etc. I think it is a great city, even in March. I have gone in various months of the year, including the winter, and always enjoyed it. |
I went to Vienna at those same dates last year! In my opinion, it's a great time to go. The Winter Riding School is still in session so you can see the lipenzaner ponies, the vienna boys choir is in town, the cafe's offer warm and hearty treats to snuggle up with for a few hours of people watching - fabulous! We had cold weather and even some flurries but loved every minute of it! go for it!

Hi Michele:
We were in Budapest & Vienna this past March for a week & the weather was quite comfortable (sweater/sweatshirt during the day & light jacket in the evening), but we traveled from Toronto (where it had been a very cold winter). A couple of picture from the trip on my web site at - http://travel.masterpiece-cs.com Hope this helps, Z |
