Vienna hotels
 

Looking for a hotel near airport in Vienna , as we have an early flight. Since we have all day in Vienna I'd like to have time to sightsee. Is the airport very far away? How much would a cab ride be? Thanks

The airport is about 30 minutes by public transport from the center of Vienna.

Numerous ways to reach the airport from the city center .

regular taxis found at taxi stands are much more expensive

Airport trasnsfer bus 7 euro about 30 minutes - stop at Schwedenplatz/ Morzinplatz -convenient to city center including UBahn lines U-1 U- 4 and U- 2

S Bahn train 3,60 euro from station Wien Mitte
about 30 minutes

CAT train 16 minutes 10 euro

The airport arrival station is just below the departure hall - a 5 minute walk at most.

Thus you can easily stay at a city center hotel and esasily reach the airport.

or an
NH hotel is immediately across the street from the departure hall of the airport - 2 minute walk.

If you are flying with a Star Alliance carrier ( Lufthansa , Austrian, Swiss and more) - check in facilties including boarding cards and luggage check is available at the CAT station depending on the time of your flight -
thisd a nice service and usually little or no waiting at these counters.

I should add that the Wien Mitte station is now having renovations . A little less convenient due to this work - but good signage to guide you - just a little longer walking.

Hilton Stadt Park hotel is just across the stree from this station.

If staying at the airport is a total must for whatever reason, the NH Airport Hotel is the best (and only) choice. On the AP premises, and just 1-2 min walking to terminals.

Any other "near airport hotel" which requires shuttle services or else has no real advantage over staying in Vienna proper as molker described.
