Vienna centrally located apartment

My sister will be going to Vienna for 5 nights early September and I am trying to help her find a centrally located apartment. They’ll be three and need 2 bedrooms, with maybe 1.5 bathrooms. Budget about €250-300/night.

Which area should I be looking at, I find places on Airbnb but they’re mostly outside the historic center. Would love your suggestions and recommendations, thanks in advance!

We stayed in a Vienna apartment recently, two bedrooms 1.5 baths.
Does your sister know how to use a subway?
The apartment was two or three stops to the center.

As the above poster wrote, and since your sister will be in Vienna for 5 nights, staying just outside of the Inner Stadt will provide easy access to the U-Bahn, Straßenbahn (trams) and the buses. A 7-day ticket, good on all public transportation, is only €20. Neubau and Josefstadt are convenient areas.

Thanks cdnyl, grateful if you could share the link to your apartment. My sister is a seasoned traveler and will in any case be using public transport to get around.

fourfortravel, was hoping you’d chip in, you’re an old time Vienna resident. Do you have any specific apartments or agencies to recommend? Apart from Airbnb and VRBO.

Thanks again, appreciate your help! 😊

Steiner Residences Vienna.
We stayed at the Nestorplatz location.

geetika, I'm afraid I can't offer more than descriptions of neighborhoods. Upon our arrival in Vienna we opted for an airbnb near the school while we looked for a flat. The 18th and 19th (where the school is) are beautiful districts, but they're not for tourists. Leopoldstadt, where cdnyul stayed, is also nice. It might be more useful to search specific airbnbs and ask for input.

Thanks again both of you, appreciate your help. This gives us something to work on, will come back if I have more questions.

Thanks and happy 4th!

I stayed last year in Pension Sacher apartments, for the second time. The apartments are all 1 bedroom, but 2 x 1 br apartments would still fit your budget.

Location is absolutely brilliant, diagonally opposite Stephansdom, right in the heart of the city, and there's a U-bahn station about 200 metres away. City things are easily walkable. 15 minute stroll to the Staatsoper.

I stayed in Pension Sacher and it was fabv u lous. they even have your name on the apt door. Their site does say they have small 2 bedroom apts and large 2 bedroom apts. It was lovely, convenient and the view of the cathedral from my room was spectacular.

Thank you margo and jan, unfortunately Sacher isn’t available for my sister’s dates. However, she did book Steiner Residences Nestorplatz suggested by cdnyul, which should work well for her.

Thanks again all of you, appreciate your help!

To Margo and Jan who have high praise for Pension Sacher,

I recommended Pension Sacher to a friend last year based on the glowing reviews I read on this forum. She stayed there last October and I don't remember the apartment number she said she was in. However, she told me that the shower head was installed on the wall where the long side of the bathtub is, so it was very difficult to take a shower without splashing water everywhere.

I am wondering if the apartment you stayed in was like that too.

The Tullnerfelder bakery on Rotensterngasse opens at 06:00, if your sister likes to get an early shot of caffeine.
It is about a 3 minute walk from the apartmernt.

There are two SPAR Gourmet grocery stores nearby. The one on Praterstraße opens at 07:40, the smaller one on Taborstraße opens at 07:15.
Both are a short walk.

There is a fun business just around the corner.

I didn't find anything like that, in either of the two apartments I stayed in.

Good to know! That means a shower head installed like that was not common.
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
