Vienna, Austria hotel help needed
We are debating between two hotels for a 9 day trip in July. The two we are looking at are Hotel König von Ungarn and K+K Hotel Maria Theresia. Which hotel would be a better choice in terms of location for things to do, shopping, and going out to eat?
Thanks in advance for your help! |
Both hotels are well located . I believe the Konig von Ungarn has a slightly better locsation. The Konig von Ungarn is in the very center of Vienna. It is just a few steps from Stephansdom , the pedestrian zone streets of Graben and Karntnerstrasse.
You can walk to many sights like the Hofburg Palace , Spanish Riding School, Stae Opera and much more . Numerous reataurant and cafe choices, and also good shopping if you wish. The hotel also has a nice atrium bar area to relax and have a drink. Ubahn and bus lines close by also. K and K just slightly outside the Ringstrasse the major boulevard of Vienna that cicles the city center . It is close to the Museum Quarter and Kunsthistorisches Museum. Not as convenient for shopping and while numerous restaurants within easy walking distance , the Konig von Ungarn location would offer more. |
www.kvu.at We had a very nice stay at this hotel. Location is great, just behind the Cathedral. Lovely lounge area to relax. Richard

Hi stbMrsLee,
Did you consider apartments? For 9 days you might find a kitchen useful. I have friends currently staying at a pretty luxury studio in the Neubau district (beside Museumsquartier) who are quite content with it. She is there with work and attending conferences so the transport needed to be pretty good for the centre. http://viennaflatseven.wordpress.com/ There's shopping on Mariahilferstrasse, restaurants in Spittelberg and Naschmarkt for lunch. Obviously Museumsquartier offers plenty of sightseeing. |
If you are feeling adventurous, you might take a look at Hotwire. I got rooms in Le Meridien Vienna in June recently for a great price. It's a 5* hotel and very centrally located. When you purchase, you don't know exactly what you're buying, but it was a fraction of the prices on other websites.
