Vienna - Airport to centre
Our flight arrives in Vienna at about 10pm, and we're staying at the Radisson SAS which I think is opposite the Stadtoper (got a good deal on the hotel!) What's the best way to get from the airport? I think that we'll be too late for the trains and that the bus terminus is too far away, so does anyone know how much a taxi would cost or if there's any car or shuttle service from the airport?

There is a train from the airport 22:22, arr Wien-Mitte 22:46.

Bus from the airport to Hotel Hilton City Air Terminal (next to the station Wien-Mitte) every 20 minutes until 23:30. Additional departures at midnight, 0:30 and 1:00. 5.80 euros, ticket from driver.

http://english.viennaairport.com/

I've used a taxi in the reverse direction, hotel to airport, for a cost of about $25 to $30. At that time of night, and considering you have luggage and will be a bit tired, I would recommend you spend the money for a taxi. Fast, more convenient, and not a huge cost.

I live here and got a taxi last week to the centre - should be just over ?30 for Radisson, which is not opposite the Stadtoper which is further along the ring road, about 15 minutes walk. Your hotel is about 10-15 minutes walk from the Hilton Bus Terminal. Its an easy walk with a basic map and pretty safe - literally one road to walk up to the ring (3 mins walk) then turn right and walk for 5 mins. Buses will be no problem before 11.30.

Just to let Fodors know that the cheap
airport to taxi service doesn't
turn up when you book it. Plus the telephone number is out of date. Kinda takes the shine of things when the one money saving tip is such a non-tip.
