Vienna, advice from the 'pros' on where to stay, please?
Good day!

Would you mind letting me know what you think of these places to stay? Location, price etc & anything good/bad you know about them?

As you see, we are hoping for a decent place, near the centre if possible...we prefer to spend our money less on sleeping arrangements, than sightseeing, etc.

Thank you so very much!

I have no specific experience with any of these properties.

However, Hotel Kugel seems to have very good reviews on tripadvisor. Edith's B&B is on there also - mixed reviews, but provided some good detail about the property and the experience.

You may want to to look on for ideas for hotels, B&B's and apartments (listed as specialty properties) in Vienna.

We found the trip advisor recommendations to be very helpful when making accomodation selections. The only accomodations we really didn't like on our last trip was a B&B that had no reviews on trip advisor.

Thanks, Mom...I will definitely check out tripadvisor's always nice to hear comments from others that have stayed at a place, isn't it?

I can only comment on locations.

I'm familiar with Edith's B&B location as I recently stayed a block away from Boerseplatz. I really like the location as I could comfortably walk to Graben,Stephansdom & Hofburg. Freyung and Cafe Central is really close by. I like the immediate surrounding area on the northeastern quarter of old town. The U bahn and street car are also nearby in case you don't want to take any taxi.

Pension Ribbisch seems to be far away from the old town, wouldn't be my choice.

Hotel Kugel is very close to the long Mariahilfer shopping street and Naschmarkt. You can easily walk to the Kunstmuseum & Hofburg & Cityhall but it's far from Stephansdom Graben or Stadtpark.

Vienna B&B is north of the Danube canal so it's just beyond the old town border like Ribbisch except it's way north where there are less touristy things. My wife's cousin used to live in that area and it didn't impress me. Hope that helps even though I'm biased toward Edith's & Kugel.

I have emailed Edith & Hotel Kugel, & look forward to hearing from them both.

My problem is, too many choices lol.

Alrighty, I have had a reply from Edith & have responded....Hopefully everything is fine for the dates we want now & so, I am very excited!

We thought the Kaiserin Elizabeth was just terrific.

Thanks, Ron! I checked but the dates we want are not available, & the price is too much for our budget as well, but perhaps another time...always good to have plenty of names!

this is my favorite when I go....

The apartment has everything you could want, and the U and trams are unbelievably close. GREAT apartment for the price.
