Vienna?

I will be going to Europe this summer for the first time. My friend is organizing the itinerary and I have no complaints there. The itinerary is as follows : amsterdam, prague, budapest, berlin, and vienna. My question is what is there to see in vienna? I don't mind going but what should I expect to see or what are the musts in vienna? Thanks in advance.

You must see the cathedral, Stephansdom. Also, take a trip out to Schonnbrun Palace. There are plenty of great museums. Be sure to see the Hofburg Palace complex. The architecture in Vienna is fantastic. Try to take in some concerts while you are there. Also, Prague is absolutely beautiful! Enjoy!

Don't leave out the Belvedere either.
It is very nice. The art museum is interesting, too. And do get in an opera or a concert. The Volksoper has good performances, and is a little cheaper than the Staatsoper.

How do I go about getting tickets? How much should I expect to pay and go dressed? I know too many questions, but never been to the opera. your help will be greatly appreciated!!

I'll be surprised if, after your trip, that you don't rate Vienne No.1 of the five.
You should also try for a cruise through the Vienna Woods area.

Go see Vienna and just enjoy this very imperial city. Don't miss a tour of the opera house (across from the famous Sacher Hotel). See Schonnbrunn Palace and try to get tickets to see the Vienna Boys Choir. Most of all, enjoy walking around the city and people-watching. Have a great time

Since this is your first trip, try to see some of the palaces, churches, etc., already mentioned. They are impressive, but no more impressive than similar structures in other parts of Europe. The one thing in Vienna which is "the best" in my experience is the collection of decorative objects d'art on the 2nd floor of the Cultural History Museum. The only other place that comes even close for this type of art is the Hermitage in St. Petersburgh. If you enjoy this sort of thing, don't miss it.
