Capri, Ischia and Napoli coming up!

Waldo Oct 9th, 2011 08:25 AM

Jojo- I didn't think the place I mentioned was the place to which you referred. I just added as a sideline that an American from Fort Lee NJ would open up a pretty good pizza place close to Naples. I also mentioned that the pizza was not as good as that in Naples. You can have Michele's, Trianon, Alba, and all those famous pizza places in Naples, not that they are bad, but the BEST pizza in the WORLD is made at TUTINO's in Naples. It is a neighborhhod place, and it positvely cannot be beat. People that have raved about Michele's tried Tutino on my recommendation, and have wholeheartedly agreed with me.

Well noted for our next trip to Napoli!: )

Just posted the ROMA pictures! :)

Beautiful photos. In addition to the great scenery and food shots -- your pictures just convinced me to wear dresses and skirts more often when I travel abroad.

Your pictures are fantastic.

There is one photo of the two of you sitting on a sandy beach with a thatched roof cabana nearby. Where is that???? I want to go there.

That is at the POSEIDON THERMAL PARK in Ischia. 22 pools of volcanic and sea water AND access to the sea. Paradise...

Sounds wonderful! Thanks for the report.

I did not visit Poseidon (we had some rainy days during our visit) but I did visit Negombo while on Ischia a few years ago. Worth the boat trip to spend a day there. Not only were the pools great, but the beach is gorgeous, too.

Thanks again!

We love Hotel Piazza Bellini in Naples. Great choice. As for not renting a car in Ischia....You can rent a car and travel well if it's the end of October to the end of March. Otherwise, bus.

Wow Jojonana, thankyou for this trip report so far... I know its from Oct 11 but cant wait to read more.
We are staying in Vice Equense for five nights in September In an apartment (www.cuboapartments.it/)
Really looking forward to it so all your information is definitely gong on the list of to do's.
Question - did you have a guide in Pompeii, would you recommend one? I am thinking of pre booking one...
We will also be going to Rome so hopefully you'll write about that too.
Thankyou

Jojonana Feb 5th, 2012 07:42 AM

Oh, I hope you love Vico as much as we did! The Cubo is very well placed for the train to Pompeii and just beside a terrasse with a great view of the Vesuvius!

I do recommend a guide for Pompeii and Herculaneum. We didn't use one, thinking the guide book would be enough, but we regretted our decision. We ended up eavesdropping on a group since it was hard to make sense of what we were seeing.

We had a guide for the Vatican thinking it would just be a good way to skip the long lines, and ended up loving it. We didn't use one for the Palatin/Forum and would not do that again. There were no more audioguides and there are no indications, maps, etc. So without the talent and knowledge of a good guide bringing those ruins to life, it's a bit... underwhelming.

I'm jealous that you will get the chance to eat at Pizza al Metro. Really, I still dream about that pizza! :)

And I'll try to get around to our Rome trip report! Do you have a place to stay? If not, I can't recommend this apartment enough : http://www.rhomeylets.it/

Oh thanks so much for your feedback... As this is our first time to Italy and I am booking and planning it all myself, I have been second guessing myself regarding accomodation and towns where I have picked to stay but you have made me so much more relaxed! Thanks
It's 7 am as I write this and my mouth is watering thinking of the pizza already! Time to diet...
I will plan a tour guide, thanks for that
I have an apartment already for Rome. It's right on the Piazza Navona area.
Thanks again,...
