Viareggio- The Beach?

Planning a day trip via train from Montecatini to this beach area. Should we go to a certain beach?
How far is Camamiore beach area?
I read about bathing establishment and charging to go onto the beach?

Any first hand information would be greatly appreciated.

IMO Viareggio isn't that attractive. But the beach is extensive and arranged in the usual Italian way - most of it run as private beach clubs renting out loungers and umbrellas, some with changing rooms and/or cafe-bars, plus a small public beach. I've never used the beach there but at other Italian beaches I've been to recently it's usually €15-20 for 2 loungers & an umbrella for a day.

Do you have a particular reason for choosing Viareggio ? Is your purpose just to spend a day at the neach ? If so, fair enough. Unless you get any specific recommendations I'd say just wander along and see which section you most like the look of, in terms of location, facilities & menu if applicable.

Thanks,
we would like to go to the beach while staying in Montecatini....viareggio looks pretty simple to get to via train. We are not renting a car that's why we picked Viareggio.
any other beach? How far from train station is the beach?
