Vespa Tours in Rome
I want to book a Vespa tour in Rome in May. I saw , on one of my surfing trips(internet!) that there was a company that did book them but havent been able to find it again. Anyone have input /info?
|
Just by googling I found www.happyrent.com and there are others listed that offer vespa tours. Some go to the wine ares.
Personally, I would never get on one of these on the streets of Rome considering the traffic and driving. |
I agree with Lynnaustin. Riding a Vespa anywhere in Italy is taking your life in your hands. However, I say that because I'm a coward.
|
I ride a scooter on narrow Cotswold lanes from time to time, but I wouldn't dream of riding one in Rome!
Good luck if you do choose to do it! |
Buona Fortuna!! I hope that you have a good life insurance and a Living will...
|
Are you talking about a tour where someone else drives you? Is so, you might look at the last couple of episodes for Little People, Big World online as they did a Vespa tour of Rome on one of the recent shows. I'm sure the company is either named or listed in the credits.

My thrill seeking son suggested renting Vespas - No Thank You - I don't even like to cross the street in Rome unless I am crossing with a group of nuns - they always seem to stop for nuns - must be a major sin to hit one

If you mean there is a driver and you are the passenger - I would enquire very carefully into the insurance coverage they provide before getting on. If they just give you your own vespa and someone leads a group - there's no way I would do this unless I had a LOT of experience in driving a bike in very heavy city traffic.
Don;t know if you have every been to Rome, but few intersections have traffic lights, who goes first is based on the chicken principle - and pedestrians have the right of way and will dart out into traffic and you MUST avoid hitting them. I live in NYC and drive here all the time - and have been known to scare cab drivers. I will drive a car into or out of Rome (but not around Rome which is futile) but would never consider driving a Vespa there (even though I do have experience driving a bike). |
Well of cours it's 18 mph. You're in the enter of a city. How fast do you think traffic goes. That doesn;t make it any safer when you consider the mass of a car - or even the sidewalk, against a human body.

did u go and do it - my sister and i are going next month and were thinking of having someone drive us around on 1???

The best tours of Rome by Vespa are provided by NERONE TOURS, web: www.nerone.cc. They also provide similar tours (but with modern scooters) on the Amalfi Coast! Read the Testimonials page for their tours also at their new website at: www.neronetoursitaly.com, they are simply the best!

Hi, the Little People Big World episode was filmed with NERONE TOURS. You can find it also on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGeYJKCfSoc. Or check our videos at http://www.neronetoursitaly.com/more...fiat-500-tours.
It was fun and safe as usual. Drivers are professional and expert. I would say that riding with our drivers in Rome is safer than crossing a street on your own! ;) if you have any question please let me know, I'll be happy to answer. My name is Sergio and I am the owner of Nerone Tours Italy. |
For tour details and booking you can use the following page: http://www.neronetoursitaly.com/rome/vespa-tours

We had the most amazing experience with Scooteroma Tours. Annie & Giovanni are the best. We felt totally safe & would do another tour in a heartbeat.
