very tall guy, big beds in Paris, and how about that Bayeux Tapestry?

me again.

now, I am trying to solicit comments on finding hotels in Paris (and elsewhere really, if you have had luck) which definitely have king size beds.

My friends are expecting to spend b/w 200-250 dollars a night on this trip for hotel rooms. My friend is short, but her hubby is 6'6 and they gotta be comfy! will they be limited to the chains? (Marriott, Hilton, etc.?) anyone with experience finding king size beds, please chime in! My guess is the smaller mom & pop places may not have this. they still want to be in the 5th.

they are also staying in St. Remy and Nice.

finally - they really would prefer not to use a car for their brief Normandy jaunt, but, they are finding it tough to find a tour which offers both the D-Day beaches AND the Bayeux Tapestry. anyone have any luck on tours which combine this?

While we are at it, I advised them to visit Les Andelys after Giverny, which of course won't happen on a tour either. anyone have any luck with a day tour that takes you there?

they may well have to get the car for a day or two, although they are still hoping not to.

haha! When my 6'6" husband and I were together in Paris I would wake up in the morning and say "hello Gulliver!". His ankles would be hanging off the end of the bed and I swear he could touch both walls by out spreading his arms!

Sorry, flygirl. Lived w/a 6'7" in France...and they're SOL pretty much in the mom and pops places.

No francophile. Provence IS Provence, provinces only refers to small countryside places.

D-day landings and Bayeux are easily accessible by yourself. Or there'll be plenty of tours to D-day places. Bayeux is easy to get to by train, plus foot!

Hi Flygirl, My husband is also long and lanky and has suffered over the years when travelling. We can't even share a queen-size bed - never mind a double!
This trip we have booked Holiday Inn Paris Opera for 179Euros a room and requested an "extra length kinsize bed" Whether we'll get it is another matter. We also opt for two single beds so he can sleep diagonally across the bed and gain space that way. The only guarantee I suppose is to ring the hotel and hope the desk clerk tells the truth.
