very confused. HELP!

I'm planning out trip to Italy in June.
We're staying in Rome for 5 days. From there we wanT to go to Assisi and travel the Tuscan region. For me it's very confusing to plan this part!!!! WHERE DO I START??? If I leave from Assisi, where do I go FIRST??? Shall I choose one place in the "middle" of the region and travel to the other towns from there??? I want to go to cinque terre too, may be that would be my last destination.
Do you recommend DRIVING from town to town in the Tuscan region or going in tours??
(I want this trip not to be stressul for mu husband)
PLEASE HELP!

You'll get quicker and more responses if you re-post your question with Italy in the title. As it now reads, it could mean anything about anywhere.

Hi ItalyLove,

You'll definitely get better responses if you repost with a detailed title. More people will be likely to click on it so hopefully you will get more advice :-)

How many days do you have to see Tuscany?

The train trip from Rome to Florence is pretty short (2ish hours). Check train schedules at www.trenitalia.com (English option at the top right). You could see the sights of Florence for a few days and then rent your car from there (less stressful than trying to drive out of Rome) and spend a few days seeing other towns in Tuscany.

A car is not an advantage in the Cinque Terre as most of the towns are pedestrian-only. If you do end up driving there, I suggest staying in the old town of Monterosso at Hotel Villa Steno (they have a small parking lot). The old town part of Monterosso is still extremely charming but they do allow cars. The other 4 villages are a short train trip or boat trip away (or a hilly hike if you are hardy).

Assisi is about 160km from Rome. Once you leave the ring road around Rome you head north on the Autostrada cutting off thru Terni , Todi amd stopping
shortly at SM d. Angeli then a short
drive with some very good views of the
Town of Assisi and the Basilica...Some
hotels have limited parking, would throughly have parking and driving instructions in order to get to the hotel as some streets are limited for
auto traffic. You after leaving drive
back down thru Todi and then over to Orvieto before heading up north to Firenze and Tuscany..A car in Firenze
is useless, however priceless on a well
planned trip of Tuscany, including Siena
(bad parking) San Gimignano, and Pisa. Yoou might consider of using Firenze as
a base and use either rail, or bus for trips out to the various places. You
can stay at hotels near the Florence
airport and haveexcellant access to the
autostrades and roads that turn thru out the area. One I might suggest tho
have not stayed there in years is the
NORD FLORENCE..Richard of LaGrange Park, Ill.
