Had the pleasure of walking the grounds of Versailles on Ney Years Day. While the buildings are closed for the national holiday. This us a wonderful day when families and tourist to enjoy the park. The Metro and RER are free for the day. What a glorious day walking the grounds.

hi crusty,
Thanks for the reply. How cold was Paris during that time. I am from Houston TX and here during winter it gets to 40 F. Just to get an idea for my warm clothes planning.
Thanks.

We went to Versailles between Christmas and New Years and it was all open but the fountains were not on. Some were wrapped up against frozen weather.

Being from Florida it was pretty darned cold but dry and invigorating.

I pack a Columbia brand ski jacket with a zippered liner. It acts as a all purpose cold weather/ rain coat/ sport jacket. Not to mention the 16 odd pockets to carry all my stuff. I usually have a ski hat stuffed in my pocket.
