Touring the palace itself, I got a little nauseous-- like eating too much buttercream icing. The gardens and fountains were amazing.

Well I'm back from Paris and unfortunately I didn't get out to Versailles. I had planned to go but the 7 days flew past and I still had so much I wanted to do in Paris itself.

I'd bought my daughter the book "Moi & Marie Antoinette" by Lynn Cullen before I left so that she could learn a bit about Marie Antoinette's life at Versailles, and generally get an idea of where I was going, but with only 2 days left, and having seen Napoleon's apartments and having cried at the sight of the Apollo room in the Louvre, DH and I decided to skip Versailles(this time) and explore a bit more in Paris.

I actually was looking forward to going, and with all the gardens in Paris in bloom, the gardens would have been spectacular at Versailles.

At least my DH has finally caught the travel bug, so I'll look forward to going on our next trip (with the kids).

Thankyou again for all of the enlightening comments.
