Verona without Opera?

Hi
I'm travelling around Italy (Naples, Amalfi Coast, Lake Como and Cinque Terre) in July/August and had also planned to spend a night in Verona. Unfortunately there isn't an Opera on the night I'm staying, which was my main reason for wanting to go. Can you convince me to still go, or should I give it a miss?
I haven't been there myself, we spent a wonderful week in Venice which I'd heartily recommend. There's another thread running detailing the wonders of Verona... hey can anyone else help Katae?

verona's an interesting and pretty town, but i wouldn't make it a special stop except for the opera. i'd go for venice 100 to 1.

I would definitely still go. Verona ended up being one of my two favorite towns after traveling through Italy last month. Although, Lake Como is pretty nice too. If you enjoy small towns & enjoy walking, you will like Verona. The greenery, the river, the piazzas are beautiful!

There have been a lot of great posts in the last week about Verona. You may want to search under "Verona" at the top of this forum for past info. It's a beautiful and interesting city.

Verona is an enchanting city--one of our favorites. Do go for a day, walk around, have dinner at 12 Apostoli. One day in Venice will frustrate you; one day in Verona will give you a good taste of the city.
