Verona - Opera
 

Looking for any advice on seating for Aida at Verona - sit in the stalls or on the numbered seats on the steps. I was thinking of getting the stalls but someone said that you would get a much better view from the stone steps - Advice much appreciated

I was trying to find an article about the Verona opera that I had read in a magazine at the hair salon but couldn't find it on line. I did run across this one though:

All I can say is the stall seats are flat, but the stage is built up rather high, so visability is great. Also all seats face the stage directly. Depending on where on the steps you sit, many of them are essentially sitting sideways to the stage, and of course the ones that face it directly are way behind all the stalls seats. I'd opt for the stalls anyday.

Had to add that you got me all excited to book a show myself - but it stops running before I get there in September :(

They were doing the set up on Aida when we were there for our honeymoon in 2002, we missed it then, and again now! Enjoy - trav

We loved the stone arena seats. Wouldn't want anywhere else. But, remember to rent seat cushions. Accoustics are such that you can hear from anywhere. But the visuals are another matter. For each section you consider, there are pros and cons visually. What to choose depends on what is most important to you. We sat on one side, close to the stage but NOT directly across or behind it. The singers were easlily visible and did not look like ants. Fortunately for us, the scenery/set was such that we had no visual impairments. I'm not familiar with the sets for the Aida. The website may give you an idea.

I have wonderful memories of seeing Nabucco at the Verona Opera. We had stone steps (as already advised hire a cushion) and bought our picnic in the verona shops and markets.

Just before the performance started, it began to drizzle slightly. Plastic poncho's were sold and everyone in our araa started to sing 'By the waters of Babylon. When we had finished an Italian area (also on the steps) started to sing the Chours of the Hebrew Slaves.

The drizzle stopped and we had a memorable evening.

During the Drizzle, the people in the stalls were taken inside. I don't know what they did inside but I doubt if they had as much fun as we had on the stone steps.

It was magical and the sound, effects supurb.

No mater where you go i am sure you will enjoy a wonderful experience.
