Verona Help!!!!!

Going to Verona Thursday 8th Nov. Would love advice on tours in Verona and Venice. Flying into Verona Brescia Airport need help as to how to get to Verona. Tips on "Whats On" at this time of year. Best way to get to Venice. As I have been myself and arrived by boat - an experience which will always stay with me. I am going with my husband who is not really interested in going to Venice. How to make Venice a memorable experience from those romantics out there

There is a specific RyanAir bus that runs from the Brescia airport to the Verona train station; there may be other bus service. <BR> <BR>See http://www.ryanair.com/dest/brescia.html <BR> <BR>or you may be able to get to this link directly from this URL (found on the webpage cited above) - - http://www.ryanair.com/dest/brescia%...ble.html#garda <BR> <BR>Best wishes, <BR> <BR>Rex <BR>

Sorry, Geraldine, I haven't done it from the Brescia airport to Verona, but I did it by car from Sirmione to Verona, and it's quite close, say a 20, 30 mins trip. Also the car trip from Verona to Venice is short, about one hour, as is the train ride. <BR> <BR>I also can't recommend you a tour. I did both cities on my own, having been to Verona twice, and to Venice four times. I just read a lot and select what my priorities are. Venice and Verona historic center are small, easily done on foot, and are both lovely, although Verona cannot be compared with Venice. What is interesting about Verona, as is true for many towns in that region, is the architecture. There are buildings dated from the Roman empire, middle age, and boroque period. <BR> <BR>However, if I were in the Northeastern Italy, I wouldn't, in any circumstance, drop Venice. It is one of my favorite cities to visit. There's no other place with the same atmosphere, and also with so much to do and see, despite its size. <BR> <BR>There are lots of reccomendations for tours in Venice on this forum, just make a search typing Venice in the search box, and you'll get plenty of suggestions. <BR> <BR>As for Verona, the most interesting sites are Piazza Bra, Piazza Del Erbe and The Arena. A good travel guide would be helpful, though. I used Fodor's Italy this time. My daughter read it for me while we walked. There are many interesting buildings and facades in Verona that might not be appreciated as they should unless you have a guided tour, or a travel book to read about them. <BR> <BR>Regards, <BR> <BR>S

Agree with the above poster. We were in Verona (and Venice) in August. Of course, there were opera festival performances in the arena then. Still, in addition to the areas already mentioned within Verona, take a look at the Castelvecchio, just about a three minute walk from Piazza Bra. It is interesting for its architechture, its history, its view spanning the river, and the art within the building. There are English language cards describing most of what is there & you move through at your own pace.

Definitely take the Arena tour! Any guidebook should have the details...Fodors, RickSteves, etc. And, the Arena website has links to more info on Verona. I think it is www.arena.it, but you can do a google search for it if that's wrong. Have fun!
