Vernazza -Cinque Terre accommodations

Looking at B &B in Vernazza. Any suggestions between Armanda, Tonino Basso and Fontanavecchia?
Is A/C recommended in July, seems hard to find. Looking for comfy and clean and would love a balcony as well for happy hour time!

Vernazza will be wall to wall with back-packers in July---I would look elsewhere

zanne Apr 22nd, 2013 06:12 PM

I can't! Traveling with friends who want to be there for 3 nights. Sooooo, are these places nice or can you recommend an apt other place?

bobthenavigator Apr 23rd, 2013 06:07 AM

Have you looked here?

Yes, that was my first choice but booked. Are you familiar with the ones I mentioned?

bobthenavigator Apr 24th, 2013 06:05 AM

No.
WE have stayed in the area 4 times now but never in Vernazza.

If your friends insist on Vernazza they have been reading too much Rick Steves. Manarolais just as beautiful and much less crowded.

We stayed in La Marina Rooms and had a shared balcony overlooking the water. Wonderful. Loved Vernazza. I don't read Rick Steves.... We were there at the end of September, though, not July.

Keep trying La Mala for cancellations. It's a gem. Vernazza is magical and regardless of the crowds (We stayed there twice, both times in late October)...they will diminish by nightfall and you will enjoy the best of what Vernazza has to offer. For three nights, I'd suggest looking into a rental by owner or property that might accommodate all in your party. Well worth it. Our second trip there, we were lucky to rent an apartment for a week that was perfectly situated right on Piazza Marconi with a window viewing the sea. All the towns of CT are fabulous with their own charm, but Vernazza is something special...

Note: the apartment we had rented is (sadly) no longer available, but they offer this one: http://www.armanda.it/index2.html

Also, check into this mgmt co.: http://www.arbaspaa.com/
I personally haven't used them, but bookmarked for future reference.

I swear by www.VRBO.com. Another great resource for booking for more than a couple nights and with a family or large party.

Good luck!

Thanks adventureseeker, I tried for La Mala and they offered me Armanda. I have been in contact with Arbaspaa. Busy time of year there! I will check VRBO as well. Problem is they want one week minimum.
Is a/c necessary in July? I see most places do not have. I'm sure nights are cool but how about days and early evenings?

Hi Bob - we are in the same boat for September. Everything I write to is booked. I always like your opinions. Where do you prefer to stay? Any favorite places?

Is Vernazza wall to wall with backpackers in September?

bobthenavigator Jun 8th, 2013 06:04 AM

We always have a car and prefer to stay outside the 5 villages in either Portovenere or Levanto---both have advantages.

kwren Jun 9th, 2013 09:23 AM

OK Bob - what do you think about needing A/C for mid September (we've narrowed it down to a couple places in Manarola, but that probably won't make a difference in your answer!)
