Vernazza (Cinque Terra) in mid-April

We're thinking about spending some time in Cinque Terra, probably Vernazza, in mid-April.

What do you think about that area at that time of year? Too cold? Rainy?

We realize we wouldn't get beach weather, and that's not a problem, but we're hoping for decent springlike days to walk around and tour. Will we be disappointed?

i was there in late april of this year. had a couple of dreary rainy gray days and some beautiful sunny blue sky days. i wore a winter coat in the morning and evenings but during the day it usually warmed up enough to wear a sweater and leather jacket. sometimes after walking around a lot, even the leather jacket came off :)

oops sorry i was there in 2004, not this year. i get all my trips to italy mixed up ;)

okay i've truly lost my mind. i went to italy this past late april. but the previous year i was in the cinque terre in mid MARCH, not APRIL! sorry for the confusion!! anyway, my recollection of the weather in mid march still stands. not that you were asking about march LOL

my goodness, i think i need another vacation!

For historical records, go to

www.weatherbase.com

(Santa Margherita is probably the closest to Vernazza.)

But do bear in mind that the weather has become very unpredicable almost everywhere. Just ask the people who were in Rome in October (like me!); the average rainfall for the entire month is supposed to be 4.5 inches. There were days on end with that much rainfall per day!

According to weatherbase.com, nearby Portovenere in April has an average high of 59 and average low of 48. Also averages 2.2 inches of rain. Odds are the numbers will be somewhere around there in any given year. Probably.
