We are heading to Venice this Sept. and are thinking about these hotels. Any thoughts?

We were in Venice in October of '97 and some folks we had just met stayed at the Accademia. Their room was small but very nice and while they had to walk up four flights of stairs, their reward was a little fourth-floor terrace. And an extra bonus, performers at a local musical event were staying in the hotel, so they heard the strains of lovely strings when they rehearsed. It is well located. I would recommend it. Also, the restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel was excellent. <BR> <BR>Now the questions is, where else will you eat in Venice without feeling ripped off???? <BR> <BR>L

We were in Venice in May and really enjoyed our stay. Venice is beautiful and a great place to get lost. <BR> <BR>I wanted to give you information on the restaurants we ate in as they were not expensive at all. <BR> <BR> <BR>1. "Taverna San Trovaso" Dorsoduro, 1016, (ponte dell'Accademia, tele: 041-520-3703 <BR> <BR>2. "Trattoria Ai Cugnai" S. Vio Accademia N857, tele: 528-9238; a recommendation from Cheap Eats. Best meal we had in Venice. <BR> <BR>3. "Omnibus a Terrasse" S. Marco, Riva del Carbon 4171, tele: 041-52-37-213. On the grand canal near the Rialto bridge. Had the 'tourist' menu which was pretty good. <BR> <BR>We averaged $45 for two with a small bottle of wine. <BR> <BR>We stayed away from the heavy tourist area of San Marco where I'm sure the prices are much higher. <BR> <BR>We did splurge on drinks while listening to the bands play in the San Marco piazza. (About $50 for 4 drinks!) It was worth every penny! <BR> <BR>

I recommend Pension Seguso -- it is <BR>behind the Accademia/quiet, and one <BR>of the real remaining pensiones of Venice. <BR> <BR>Tell them Elizabeth Green sent you -- I <BR>am a travel agent and have had several <BR>satisfied customers (including myself!) <BR> <BR <BR> <BR>Also, for a fun wine bar/appetizer meal <BR>check out Vino, Vino -- it's echt!

another inexpensive place to eat in Venice--Trattoria-Pizzeria San Toma,located in Campo San Toma. You can get a full meal, or just pizza. It's excellent and they have a garden. <BR>

I have stayed at the Pensione Accademia twice, once in 94 and once in 97 and loved it both times. I hghly recommend it. <BR>
