VeniceCard vs. Vaporetto pass

I think I have it right that the VeniceCard (72hour for 27Euro) gives me access to all vaporettos and buses during that 72hrs as well as access to public bathrooms. The regular vaporetto pass for 72 hours just gives me the transportation, no bathroom access, for 22 Euro, right? Do I really need to pay the extra 5 Euro for the bathroom access or will we be okay using restrooms at lunch and in museums?

We just got the vaparetto passes. Restrooms were not a problem...just use one whenever one is handy! Also, you can get a 24 hour vaparetto pass for 10.50 euros, which can cover you part of two days depending when you need it. We were there 3 full days, and used one 2-day pass (10.50) and one single day pass (5 euros).

Public toilet costs 0.50EURO each time and I will never need to use it nearly 10 times a day so personally simple vaporetto passes are fine for mem especially when you can buy it at almost any booth whenever you want it. VeniceCard is a bit more complicated to buy, isn't it?

NathalieM, I agree with the first part of your comment but you seemed to mix up with above. There is no 2-day pass. They are either 72hr pass for 22EURO or 24hr pass for 10.50 at least until the last time I was there, in February. 5 EURO is for a ticket valid for something like 1hr or for a ride involving Grand Canal (I don't rememeber the details), isn't it?

Where did you read about the VeniceCard at 27 euro? It's not mentioned on the ACTV website. As far as I understand "CartaVenezia" is only for residents.
More information on http://www.actv.it
Anyway, I wouldn't pay 5 euro extra for bathroom access!!

NatalieM...you are right. Just back from there early April. We bought the 3-day pass, never used a bus and never had a problem finding a restroom. Did not use pay toilets.

Myriam, "VeniceCard" and "Carta Venezia" are two different products. A confusing though.

FYI, while vaporetto pass is for 24 & 72hrs, VeniceCard says they are for 1 & 3 days which makes the vaporetto pass even more interesting because you can use it over 4 days, exactly 72 hours from the time of validation. And VeniceCard now seems to cost 28EURO for 3days.
