Venice - Where to stay?

Are there any cozy, quaint, reasonably priced little known secret hideaways? We're staying three days in June and would love your recommendations on places to stay. Thank you in advance! :)

what's your price range? I like Hotel Flora (www.hotelflora.com). It is full of charm and has it's own garden. It's in a quiet location need San Marco.

That's www.hotelflora.it (not .com)

Thank you, MFNYC, I'm awaiting a reply from Hotel Flora now. I'd like to stay under 200 Euros per day.

Try Cadeldose.com

Great B&B well situated.

I'm new here, and this message board is a little addicting! So, what I have gathered, is a listing of places to stay based on prior postings, and would love input on this list below. Anyone have any strong opinions either way? Thanks!

If you already haven't done so, read reviews on tripadvisor.com. ALso search the hotels you are interested in here by name. Some of them have been mentioned frequently here.

Well, I stayed at Palazzo Duodo for 3 days my first trip to Venice and found it delightful.

It is a B&B rather than a hotel, but I didn't find that a problem at all.

You've looked at the website so have seen the pictures. We had a fridge in the room (can't remember if it was a minibar) but we bought our own wine and olives to snack on. Canal and rooftop views from the bedroom and bathroom. Antique furniture everywhere, the maid cleaned and tidied and folded each morning after preparing breakfast. I loved having my own key to the front door to come and go as I pleased.

The location is great too, and you not only have Fantasy Gelato just over the bridge, but there is also a really good deli/grocers just round the corner.

Have a great trip wherever you decide to stay.

Thank you Julia and MFNYC!

If you do a search here on Fodor's for Locanda Orseolo, you will find many rave reviews!

Check the web site of Hotel Basilea. Small, near the train station, quiet side canal. Reasonable price.
