Venice Walking Tours

I'm leaving for Italy May 17th flying into Venice. I'm only going to be in Venice for about a day and a half, so I don't have time to waste. I'm looking for a good walking/boat tour. Just a couple of hours or so, to get a taste of the city. Then I'll spend the rest of the day just wandering around. Any recomendations would be apprciated. Thanks!

When you arrive in Venice, how about checking with the tourist office to see if they have walking tours? You also have time to write to the tourist office of Italy in NYC and ask for the same information. If you do a Google for "venice walking tours" you'll come up with lots of results. I booked a day trip in the Veneto with www.tours-italy.com.

alabamawhirly,

No, not yet. I'll be going in May, doing the 1-day Veneto Hill Town tour. I've read good reviews. Where's the bad review?

I would just wander, it is much more fun. If you have to do a tour, then take a boat over to Murano to see the glass factories. You'll have to listen to a sales pitch, but it is well worth it. Your hotel can arrange it.

If you only half a day and a hlaf I would not go to Murano - unless to are truly into glass - but you can see some wonderful pieces in Venice - in particular the shop on St Mark's (which your back to St Mark's it is in the top left corner)
