Venice Valentines Day 2005
Hi, just booked a great deal to Venice for Valentine's weekend. Im looking for an ultra romantic restaurant for dinner one night that weekend. Im thinking of a view over the canals, misty gondola rides, it can be a splurge or not, but just incredibly romantic.

For a splurge:
restaurant of the Hotel Cipriani.
You have to take the private launch (motoscafo) for the 5 minute ride into the lagoon. Worth every penny, imo.
Formal. Make sure it's open in Feb, not sure.
No boat ride: Antico Martini, not far from San Marco or La Fenice opera house.
Very pretty inside.Also pricey.
Ditto Da Fiore, imo one of the best restaurants anywhere. It is next to a small canal, but only some tables have views.

I second Elaine's suggestion of Hotel Cipriani. I'm sure it may be too cold to eat on their lovely terrrace in February, but the interior restaurant is fabulous, as well. Food, service, atmosphere...all grand for a special dinner.

Thanks everyone! Im going to try book Cipriani - and maybe they have a table by the window. Budman, Hi, I booked through Expedia leaving Friday night and coming back on Tuesday for flights and better room in four star hotel $1,783.98 total for both of us. I chose a new hotel there called Palace Bonvecchiati, Sestiere San Marco 4680 - which I was not too sure about first but then saw gushing reviews on it.
Since I posted I also saw reviews of this little restaurant for another night, and if you scroll down the table in front of the window looks very nice. http://www.vinidagigio.com/salafumatori.html
I also think I read somewhere that you can take a gondola directly to the canal entrance to Da Fiore?? (Spelling) and that seems gorgeous butI think I would be looking at a $500 night out with that one (including gondola) - If I decide on that - it had better come with a happy ending!!

I forgot to say that was from JFK with a stop in Amsterdam Schip. (which we dont mind - that airport is a destination in itself) - glasses of champagne and smoked salmon for breakfast!
