Are you looking for some day trips out of the city, or just things within the city?

I can never get enough of Venice........

the ONE thing I would want to do when I go back is find the gondola repair shop or where they build them. Someone on Fodors knows where it is, but I don't.

The cemetery island of San Michele.

Day trip to Chioggia for lunch.

Hey Jill;

Squero di San Trovaso is a boat- builder shop, more exactly a gondola repair and construction yard. There are not many left in Venice, and the most famous (and most picturesque) is the Squero di San Trovaso. Directions: Just off the Zattere in Dorsoduro - turn off Zattere at Ponte Lungo, along Fondamenta Nani.

Take the vaporetto to the church of San Giorgio Maggiore, designed by Palladio. You can take an elevator to the top of the campanile and get a lovely view toward San Marco from there. One of my favorite paintings, Tintoretto's Last Supper, still hangs in its original location inside that church, to the right of the main altar.
