VENICE TRANSPORTATION

Looking for suggestions an efficient, inexpensive way of getting from Marco Polo Airport to hotel in the Dorsoduro section of Venice. Also, from hotel to Marittima Fabbricato Cruise Ship Terminal.

Hi
Your hotel can best advise you on the closest water taxi or water bus stop for the hotel. Many hotels already have pre-printed instructions that they can fax or email to you.

The three main methods of transport from
the airport into Venice are
Surface bus to Piazzale Roma and then a water bus from there--least expensive, but a hassle with luggage
Alilaguna water bus (it's yellow) making selected stops
Water taxi, can take 4-6 people with luggage, would cost approx 80 euros, can take you right to your hotel door if it has a water entrance.

About half of the Alilaguna boats stop at Zattere, which is on the "back" side of Dorsoduro, facing Giudecca. If, for instance, your hotel is Galleria, its a few blocks walk. Ask at the Alilaguna desk at Marco Polo. The fare is about $10 each way and the trip is about 45 minutes to Zattere.

Good morning, Andrews
check into taking the city bus from Marco Polo airport to Pza Roma and
then vaporetto to Zattere or Basiltio
or any stop that is closer to your hotel. see (www.actv.it/ingelse/preservizi.htm.)
e.g. Vaporettos 52 &82 appear to go from Zattere to Santa Martawhich is on
a canal opposite the Bacino delle Stazione Maritima but does not appar there is a bridge to get over to the
other side. Would suggest you ask the
concierge in your hotel upon arrival as
the the best way to get to your destination....If your hotel is closer to the Pza Roma might suggest using a
porter for your luggage, and also the
Stazione Marittima is located about
a block or so behind the large parking
garage at Pza Roma.
