Can anyone tell me specifically, please, including costs of options, ways to get to the Molino Stuckey Hilton, Giudecca 810, from the airport? Not looking for fancy... looking for cost-efficient and timely options. Thanks so much!

RN-it's pretty easy-did you see the directions on the Hilton site?

I think the easiest way to explain this is to do it this way: Go down to the airport dock (which is about a 5 or 6 minute walk-the signs in the airport will direct you-you go the doors on the left, to your left) then, you buy a 12 Euro ticket on the Alilaguna RED LINE-this will take you to the "Zattere" -last stop. The Zattere is a long waterfront area-on the other side of the Zattere, across the canal, you will see the Hilton. Walk up the Zattere waterfront to the vaporetto stop marked "San Basilio" and wait there at that stop for the Hilton hotel shuttle boat which will come to the same stop-it will be marked.

Correction: I see the Alilaguna actually stops at San Basilio vaporetto stop, and not one of the other stops on the Zattere. Therefore, you don't do anything except get off at the Zattere, and wait for the hotel shuttle boat to pick you up.

Actually it's one person! The Alilaguna boat is a vaporetto (water bus-yes, it's a boat, but a big one that carries passengers and luggage). Once you get down to the dock, you can buy a ticket there, and just tell them you are going to the "Zattere"-but it will be the Red line (there are differnt lines, depending on what part of Venice you are going to).

Mind you, this is NOT the same water bus service that will carry you around Venice-those vaporettos are run by the City of Venice-the Alilaguna is a private line running from the airport outwards to the lagoon islands.

So you will have to buy separate vaporetto fare cards to go around Venice-a 72 hour pass costs 30 Euro.

A more costly option would be a water taxi which is the most direct bringing you directly to the dock of your hotel.

You will also have someone to help you on and off the boat with your luggage.

IMHO, nothing is more glorious than riding into Venice on a water taxi...albeit a more expensive option...but a very memorable experience.

Yes, but Lorac, the OP said "cost-efficient" 100 Euro to take you to the hotel as opposed to 12 Euro-that's not cost-efficient.

And because the OP is going to the new Hilton Stucky, there is a hotel shuttle boat service there on the Zattere, that WILL help her with her luggage, and take it to the hotel for her.

Ok, now you are really going to see what an idiot I am... I just realized that though your info will help me get to the airport where we are leaving from... we are actually arriving at the train station. Can you give me advice on that transport please? Thanks for your understanding of my naivette.

And hey, Girlspy, if you won't mind, while you are at it (you are so knowledgeable about this, I cannot help to ask): how do I reverse those directions to go back to the airport using your boat? Can I buy the ticket at the hotel dock?

From the train station-very easy-the vaporetto stop is right in front of the train station -Ferrovia_ just take no. 82 going in the RIGHT DIRECTION-towards Basilio on the Zattere, NOT towards San Marco. There are a number of stops on the Zattere-the vaporetto guy will call out the name of each stop and they are listed on the side of the boat. It will be very quick from the train station-no. 82 to San Basilio, then wait for the shuttle.

As for return, you will buy your Alilaguna tickets there on the Zattere where the hotel shuttle picks you up to go back to the airport. The little ticket booth there will give you all times of the boat runs.

You are fantastic! I love you, and everyone who looks like you. So the line from the train, is that the regular vaporetto line you spoke of, with the 30 EU pass that is good for 72 hours? And also, how long do you think each trip should take?

Actually I see now the earliest of the red line arrives at the airport at 9:05; is this early enough to catch an 11:30 international flight, do you think?
It is the other vaporetto that I am wondering how long the trip from train to hotel might take.

Ha! Ha! Funny RN! Yes. The regular vaporetto line takes however many stops to get to Zattere on the no. 82-not long-maybe 10-15 minutes. From the Zattere to the Airport on the private Alilaguna Red Line it is an hour and a half, almost exactly.

RN-I don't think you're looking at the right times (you don't have to worry about this-the ticket operators all speak good English) but the Red Line from the Zattere leaves ON THE HOUR .45, so if you want to leave at 7:45, 8:45, etc. you can.

Yes, but the first one, at 7:45, arrives at the airport at 9:05. So I am just wondering if that's enough time in that airport for an international flight departing at 11:30. I think it should be... but am not sure.

Yes, that's enough time, particularly if it is a intra-Europe flight.

Thoroughly comfused now about who if anyone is going to & from the airport, as opposed to the station.

But Girlspy, when I was in Venice recently, the Alilaguna boat terminated at the first 'Zattere' stop (the nearest to La Calcina), it didn't go on to San Basilio - I think the hotel website is wrong. And the Molino Stucky boat didn't stop at the Zattere stop.

But presumably one could change from the hotel boat to the Alilaguna at San Marco ?

RNSuzanne, are you committed to that hotel ? I wouldn't fancy the area myself - there's not much round there aside from some new housing.
