Venice - transfer from marco polo to cruise ship
My wife and I will be arriving into Venice, Marco Polo at approximately 6:30 p.m. where we will pick up a cruise. The last cruise shuttle from the airport leaves at 3:30. Can anyone tell me how to get from the Marco Polo airport to the Venezia Termnal Passeggeri, preferably by land (not water taxi).

Where are you coming from that your flight is arriving so late? Try posting this message on www.cruisecritic.com.

Good morning, Beasue
Search for Venezia Termini Passeggeri on Yahoo and you will find about four of them however it appears that the one cor cruize ships is located behind the Venice Main Parking Garage. Probably you best bet is to take a water taxi from Marco Polo to the Termini for Cruise Ships, but might also clarify this thru your cruise line... However you could take the bus from Marco Polo to the Pza Roma and then walk the two or three blocks to the termini, you should be able to get a porter in the Pza Roma to handle your luggage at a fixed price per bag naturally plus tip..... Hi baesue
Have you asked your cruise line or TA? |
Baesue - It would be quicker and cheaper to take a bus to Piazzale Roma. Buses leave about every 20-30 mins.
From there it's a 10 mins walk or a 2 mins taxi ride, according to this link: http://www.vtp.it/pages/comeRaggiung...o-raggiungerci http://www.vtp.it/pages/comeRaggiung...ghetti.jsp?n=1 Hope this helps ... Steve |
We did this transfer about a year ago. We took a land taxi which took us right to the ship. Cost was much less than a water taxi. Only drawback (then) was a long queue at the airport taxi stand.

Thank you grandma, I didn't realize land taxi's were available from the airport to the cruise terminal. Everyone I spoke with mentioned water taxi.

Water taxi is lots more fun--though you pay for that fun.

Something isn't quite right here..are you saying that the transfer from the airport to the ship is NOT included (is this because you chose to make your own air arrangements?) and if the "last" one is at 3:30..when does the ship sail?
I'd opt for the mode of transport with the least amount of hassle..and yes, you can afford it since it will probably be no more expensive than those photos you are going to pay for aboard the cruise..or is it the Bingo? or the "special 'bon voyage' cocktail??? Enjoy your trip. |
We've been to Venice many times so we didn't mind the non-scenic taxi ride.
But if it will be your first arrival in Venice I'd start squirrling away the grocery money and indulge in a water taxi-:) |
Grandma, Thanks for the advice.
