Venice Train station

Hello!

I apologize inadvance if this has been asked before but I was trying to purchase tickets from Venice to Florence on the Trenitalia website when I noticed that it listed 2 stations in Venice: Venezia S. Lucia and Venezia Mestre. Are there 2 stations in Venice? I thought there was only the St. Lucia station? Would you recommend one over the other?

Thanks!!

Are you staying in Venice, then you need to take the S. Lucia Station. The Mestre station is further out.

Mestre is the modern, industrial part of Venezia on the mainland. Santa Lucia is the only station in the historic city.

Thank you CarlosSandoval.
Yes we are staying in Venice right by the Piazzale Roma, so I guess we will be taking the train from S. Lucia!

That's correct. S. Lucia Station!!
