Venice to Verona

I'm in Venice for a month and wonder if anyone can tell me how long it would take to go to Verona. I'd like to go for the day and return late in the evening if that is reasonable. I was in Verona once before, years ago, but stayed overnight. Is a one-day trip by train feasible? Any other suggestions about places to which I can do day trips would be appreciated--not the islands, I will do those later in the month. Thank you.

very feasible by train, you an also do Padua, Bologna, Ferrara all very easily without having to change trains, then there is Trieste the other way

We visit Verona often, and always go to Venice by train for the day. So we do the reverse trip.

Make sure you get on the express train and the trip is just under an hour.

The location of the train station in Verona is not quite in the most historic center of town. I would advise taking a taxi when you arrive that will take you to a convenient location to walk in the center. Perhaps the Verona Arena/Piazza Bra is a good place to start. You could probably take public transportation, but I don't have experience with that so can't advise.

Verona is a great city for walking. Enjoy!

Happy travels,

LisaG

You can buy a couple of urban bus tickets from the tobacconist inside the Verona station. There are several bus lines going to piazza Bra, if memory serves me they should be lines #11, #12 and #13 from bus platform A. Confusingly, they change numbers on festive days (but still leaving from platform A).

Thank you all for your very helpful responses. Hope to visit at least some of the cities soon.
