Venice to Ravenna by train

I am flying to Venice in early May and will be going to the Mestre staition for the train to Ravenna. How much time should I allow for getting through customs and passport control and to the station after my arrival? Also, is it necessary to buy a ticket in advance for this or can I buy one the day I get there at the station?

It should not take too long at Marco Polo. The airport is small and compact.

Around 25 minutes for the bus to the train station maybe.

You can wait to buy your ticket when you get there.
