Venice to Milan via Verona

Hi. We will be travelling back to Italy in April next year. We need to travel by rail from Venice to Milan. We would like to stop in Verona for a few hours but this would mean we would be late into Milan. I understand Milan is more for shopping than anything else. Is this true? In other words, are we better off going straight to Milan or stopping off at Verona? Cheers pawsha

Milan is the commercial and industrial center of Italy. And it's not just for shopping. The duomo, Last Supper and La Scala have nothing to do with shopping, for example.

It just depends on what you want to do there.

Ditto Rkkwan's comments. I think you need to examine what you hope to see in Verona in a few hours vs. what you'd like to see in Milan. (You need to factor in the luggage storage process.)

I like Verona, but a few hours isn't much time. (How many hours is "a few"?) The non-shopping sights in Milan are within a fairly small geographic area.
