Venice to ban wheeled suitcases

Just read where Venice is going to ban wheeled luggage (May 2015) but will allow softer air filled tires. Has anyone ever seen an adapter for luggage that has air filled tires or should I rush to the patent office and get my application in for “Universal Luggage Adapter with Air Filled Tires”?

this has been put in the category of a rumor or someone's idea that will never happen...right up there with banning cruise ships...Venice is not in the official business of deterring visitors. Your luggage is fine.

Two of them started by Jeffs. Which must mean something.

i believe Lois2 set the op straight. the real yawn here is reading yet another poster who has time in their life to actually look up exactly how many prior posts there were--just so that they could insult the op. can't we all play nice?

I think some people pushed the panic button....

Excerpt from - http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2...-untrue-venice

"I want to most firmly deny that the Municipality of Venice had ever thought of banning (wheeled suitcases) in the historic centre," Prefect Vittorio Zappalorto said in a statement on Friday.

He said the local authority was only considering introducing the compulsory use of air-filled wheels for commercial carts, such as those used for deliveries to shops and street markets, and insisted that no final decision had been taken on the issue."

Sorry to post such an offensive thread. I read the article on CNN about the wheeled luggage ban and came here to see if anyone had the real scoop. I did a search for “Venice wheeled” and “Venice luggage” and didn’t see anything related so I posted the question. Sorry I offended so many. An no “colduphere”, I did not post the same subject twice. Check your facts more carefully.

Fodors has the world's worst search facility, even worse than Tripadvisor's which is saying a lot. I once searched for an article I had written myself a few days earlier, using the exact words I had used in the title, and it didn't come up in the search. I had to wade through three or four pages of old posts to find it.
