Where can I stay overnight in Orvieto?
Maybe one night in San Gimi and one in Orvieto on our way to Florence?And I'm puting Viecchie Mura on my restaurant list! |

I don't normally like "one night stands" but in winter they can have advantages, especailly if you don't have too far to travel between places. so the "if it's tuesday it must be siena" idea might work. better still, get the train to orvieto, spend the day and night there, pick up car, then head to siena, and spend two nights there, using any "spare" time to tour san gim as well. return car in florence - you do NOT need a car there, and you'll have more time for Florence itself as you'll already have seen siena and san gim. don't forget that you can now book the uffizi and accademia on line. even in Jan, the lines for the uffizi may be long. in Venice, you could pre-book the secrets of the Doge's palace tour [they only have so many in english per day] - do dress up the day you go as even in March it was perishing. regards, ann |
