Venice - Then Where
I am going to Italy next year end of June, with Daughter 7 and husband.
We would like to start in Venice, but not sure where to go from there. We have been to Florence, Tuscany, Amalfi Coast, Rome and Spoleto on prior trips. We will have a couple of weeks but do not want to spend it traveling, we'd like to just split it up between a couple of nice spots. Pool or beach is a must. What suggestions do you have. |
If The Italian Lakes fits your definition of "Pool or beach", then that's my suggestion...

Greek Isles

How about the Cinque Terre? Monterosso has a beach, plus you can hike or take the train to the other towns. I've stayed in Manarola and loved it!

I would go to Bellaigo it's beautiful an you have the lakes.
Why not go to Lido while you are in Venice just take a ferry over for the day . Don't forget to take the Ferry over to Brano while your in Venice skip going to Morano where they make the glass not much to see there. But Brano is beautiful an very colorful,It's much smaller than Venice you can see it in one day.An Lido when you get off the ferry you just walk to the other side ,not alot to see there except shops an the ocean and the beach. |
If we don't have a car how would we travel from Venice to the Lake area, as that sounds like a good idea. Train?

With the low-price airlines in Europe you can pretty much throw a dart. If you want to make it Venice/Paris or Venice/London ... or any other city it it pretty inexpensive to do.
|
Go north through Cortina and the Dolomites to Innsbruck, Garmich, Oberammagau, Munich, etc. Beautiful countryside!
Wooops - just noticed you want a beach... a pool may have to suffice. |
You should hire a car when you leave Venice and return it at your departing airport.
