Venice-Siena-Positano: doable?

OK all you savvy travelers, can this be done without ending in divorce court?
Fly into Venice:
3 days in Venice with 1 day trip to Murano
Train to Siena for 2 days in Siena
Train to Positano (Naples) for 3 days with day trip to Pompeii and day trip to Capri
Overnight in Naples for trip home.
Thanks, LisaS

Sure it is doable but why?
You will be spending too much time in transport--at least 10 hours on trains and a ton of bag schlepping. Too much hassle for me but you may be younger.

If you really want to see these three places, and who wouldn't, go. Your schedule sounds doable. Lots of travel but great destinations!

Hi L,

Good advice from Bob.

Have you checked the train schedules from Venice to Siena, Siena to Positano via Naples?

See www.trenitalia.com

With only 3 days in Venice, is there a need to go to Murano?

With your short time, I suggest choosing among

Venice and Tuscany

Naples and the AC

Italy will still be there for your next trip.

Thanks Ira, but here's the glitch:
Done Tuscany twice aready plus Rome, Florence, Pisa & Lucca. My hubby is retired and I am in the process of starting up my own business, so this might be the last Italy adventure for a while. We have always wanted to see Northern and Southern, and now with the possibility of not returning in the near future, are trying to decide if we can do both. Do you think I should drop Siena? We just never seemed to get there on the past trips. May be that was an omen?
Thanks all, LisaS

I'm a LisaS, too! I agree that, even with the horrible thought that you may not return to Italy anytime soon, you're tackling too much ground. I'd drop Siena, for starters.

Keep Siena on the list but rent a car to do this trip. Use Siena as a base for your two nights and explore Tuscany. I would even drop the day in Murano and add a day to Tuscany to do it better and and slower. You can hit all the great Tuscan towns you otherwise cant using a train.

I also would suggest driving from Venice to the other destinations. Murano is nice, but unless you really want to buy some serious glass, there is little reasong to spend the day there. Either add the day to Venice itself or to one of the other destinations. I would also suggest staying in Sorrento or one of the towns on the Amalfi coast rather than Naples for the last part of your trip. Return the car at the airport.

Hi Lisa,

How about this,

Fly into Venice 4 days (skip Murano) see Burano.

Fly www.alpieagles.com to Naples.

Take the http://www.curreriviaggi.it/ bus from Naples airport to Sorrento. I think that it will be more convenient for what you want to see than Positano.

Overnight in Naples for trip home.

Hope this helps.
