Venice Side Trips
 

I'll be staying on venice for a week. Are there any easy day trips to do from the city that would be worthwhile time spent? We'll be there in November. Thanks.

Perhaps you could consider Padua (Padova) with its' Giotto frescoes, Vicenza, Verona, or Ravenna.

If the weather is decent, don't forget the islands of the lagood: Murano, Burano, Torcello.

Good advice above.

We have been to Venice numerous times and have not seen it all.

I don't think that you will get bored in only a weeek.

Get up early and go to the fish market near the Rialto bridge.

venice itself will need about 4-5 days to explore, if you also cover lesser visited areas like castello, santa croce and dorsoduro. do remember- venice is one of the most beautoful places on the planet, so you can never run out of things to do even if that's just sitting by the grand canal and soaking in the views. spend a day island-hopping ... i visited murano (famous for its glass -spend some time watching the artisans at work) and burano (pretty fishing village with colourful houses and famous for lace -they even have amuseum deciated to this !)and both were beautiful.

Roro - Besides those already mentioned, Treviso is one of the nicest towns in Veneto - and less than 30 mins away.

Asolo, too, is very attractive. Another option is Bassano del Grappa.

Or Bologna ...

Verona and Padova would be my first choices; they are very accessible by train. Vicenza, Asolo, Bassano del Grappa and the other hill towns are fun and interesting to visit as are the Dolomites, but you can easily spend a full week in Venice especially if you go to Murano, Burano, Torcello, San Michele, San Lazzaro and maybe the Lido.

As you have only a week, I'd make trips to some of the other islands.

There is rather a nice trip along the Brenta Canal to Padua.

You go by boat, visiting some of the villas along the canal and return by bus.
You stop off at a rather nice fish restaurant for lunch.

We just returned from Venice. Padua (Padova) was wonderful. We also went to Chioggia. I thought it would be difficult but we took the vaporetto to Lido, then Bus 11, the bus actually went on a ferryand then left us off right where we boarded another ferry and we were there.We ate at La Tgura- the best seafood of our entire trip.
